...though, first, we got our tree yesterday!!! So excited. It's all pretty and shiny and YAY. I insisted on multi-colored lights and am very glad I did because it is much much much prettier. Anyway, we got that yesterday and set it up in no time. The rest of the day was spent lazing around (J painted, I was reading) and also I took a long nap because I had a killer headache. Not a migraine (thankfully) though it felt close. I wonder if perhaps I got one during the night without knowing. It's been better today, but still hurts a bit.
We ended up driving to Taco Bell for dinner (...lol) and drinking a bottle of wine while we watched the second Chipmunks movie (...more lol.) We were actually trying to watch Toy Story 2 (I've never seen it and we want to rent Toy Story 3 next) but the DVD was broken so we went to plan B. It ended up being a nice day.
Today was chores day. Not too many needed to get done since the kitchen was clean and our room is fine, but we cleaned the bathroom and also went food shopping. Other than that....not much! I finished my book, mostly. ("The Magicians" by Lev Grossman--pretty good, but felt a little lopsided. What seemed like the "true" story was hidden for so long and then was resolved a lot faster than the buildup. Still, it was definitely entertaining.)
Though tonight, Sunday Night Football--Chargers at Colts!!!! GO BOLTS!!!! Vincent Jackson is back tonight, Gates is active, LET'S DO THIS!!!

Success!!!
Thanksgiving was great! Also our cranberry bar/cake thingie was a huge hit! Awesome. So glad it was tasty. We have enough to make a couple more of them, hahaha.
The rest of the day was awesome, too. We got to mom's early enough that we could hang out for a while, which was fun. Then everyone arrived and dinner was delicious. Mom decided to cater this year (lol) but everyone made various extras so everything was soooo good. It was great to see everybody and talk to my aunt for a while, especially.
Anyway, we got back really late and just hung out for a bit before going to bed. I didn't want to get up early on my day off (lol) so I slept in but J went to meet Jon to go to the movies & the MoMA. I've just been hanging out but plan to clean up a bit and also put out the Christmas lights on our balcony. We're going tomorrow to get our tree and will get some decorations probably on Monday so we should be all set up soon. :) SO EXCITED FOR CHRISTMAS TIME!!!
Man, I'm getting hungry already, lol. After that dinner last night I wouldn't have thought it would be possible to be hungry for at least a week, ahaha. Oh well, at least I have leftovers!!! Yum.

Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving!!
Our baking endeavors for today seemed to have gone quite well, though I guess we won't really find out until we eat it later. XD It smells awesome, and the batter tasted pretty much like sugar cookie batter, so hopefully that bodes well.
Watching the parade now, which, I don't care how old I am, I will always watch. I've definitely come to appreciate the performances from the Broadway shows more as I've gotten older, though. It really gives you a chance to see bits of the shows that you wouldn't necessarily see otherwise & were kind of always interested in.
Anyway, just wanted to drop in to note Thanksgiving since once we start to get ready and head out to mom's, I'll be pretty much gone. Excited to see everybody!!

Calm before the storm...
It is so deserted at work today that it's almost hilarious. I really didn't think people put that much stake in Thanksgiving any more, but I guess they do!! One of the most ridiculous things about it is that pretty much all the people who AREN'T here are people who live in the area and therefore don't need to travel...so why did they take off??? Unless they're cooking the big meal, in which case, makes sense.
We also have an early dismissal today, which is fantastic. (We all knew it was coming, Big Boss F usually approves them for the day before a holiday, but still...nice to have it.) I'm hoping to head over to Old Navy or something similar and find something to wear tomorrow. I know there is little to no reason to "dress up" for holidays at home (I even use the term "dress up" as lightly as possible: "dressing up" for holidays at home usually means wearing anything other than sweatpants, tshirts and sneakers...not even kidding. A sweater and non-sneaker shoes actually counts...) but sometimes I feel like I want to. I guess I'll see if I find anything and if not...SNEAKERS!!! TOO BAD!!! J wants to go to the mall later, too, so he canwaste use this $15 coupon he got for JCPenney's so I might be able to find something there if Old Navy is the utter fail it usually is.
Anyway, wanted to comment on the complete ghost town of an office I'm in today and the complete lack of stuff to do other than tying up loose ends. Publishing around holidays (and...Fridays in the summer, really...lol) is funny that way. I'm definitely not complaining, though. It's a welcome respite from the insanity that has been the past couple of weeks. I'm so glad that this box set we put together for distribution in the Middle East only comes up for printing once a year because it is MADDENING.
P.S.--Cranberry dessert baking will commence this evening: Wish us luck!!

Bored, mostly.
Mostly I'm doing this again because I'm bored. Also because I kind of miss it, but that's another story. I figure anyone with half a brain who even remotely knows me will know this blog belongs to me the second they read half a post, but still. I can pretend to be anonymous if I want!!!
J is currently obsessed with Final Fantasy (which one, I have no idea, except that it's not Final Fantasy VII because I'm pretty sure I'd recognize Cloud and/or Sephiroth if I saw them...) and has been playing that lately, leaving me plenty of time to waste my time on the internet laughing at macros and lolcats. Not that I don't do this anyway, but at least now he's not complaining.
We baked chicken for dinner and I made a cranberry sauce to go with it. It barely used half a bag of cranberries, so now we still have friggin' 3.5 bags of the things left. Even after we make the cranberry bars for Thanksgiving we're going to have a ton left over. At least we wised up and froze two of the bags so we can always save them for another time. Maybe Christmas....lol.
There's nothing on TV tonight (that I watch, anyway) so hopefully bedtime will be early. Last night was an OK exception to see the Chargers stomp the hell out of the Broncos on MNF but, as satisfying as the reason for lack of sleep may be, it's still lack of sleep.
It's getting late so I should probably get on that getting-to-sleep-thing.
